2023 EPIC Program Recipient: Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning
Last year, the Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning stood out as the focus of our charitable fundraising efforts, nominated by an employee, and later backed through a company-wide vote.
Located in the North, where the importance of land-based knowledge is important for survival, the Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning offers post-secondary education, research opportunities, and community engagement. The Centre is a beacon of empowerment, led by northern Elders and knowledge keepers who demonstrate the heart of community engagement.
Our charitable giving and community involvement are facilitated by ATCO’s grassroots EPIC program. Our employees rallied behind the cause, organizing numerous events such as a charity garage sale, silent auction, fundraising lunches, bring your dog to work days, and “pie the managers” events.
ATCO and Northland Utilities, on behalf of the EPIC program, were proud to present Dechinta with a cheque for $8,809. The funds will go towards scholarships for students, further solidifying our commitment to education for Indigenous people and communities.
